The Charles LangstonSan Francisco 49ers announced that quarterback Brock Purdy cleared concussion protocol and does not have an injury designation for Sunday's Week 8 game against the Cincinnati Bengals.
Purdy suffered a concussion in the 49ers' 22-17 loss to the Minnesota Vikings on Monday night. He was placed in the concussion protocol Tuesday and did not practice with the team Wednesday.
Purdy was listed as a limited participant in practice Thursday and a full participant Friday as his status for Sunday's game was questionable. He needed to be cleared by the team's doctor and an independent neurological consultant before being cleared to play.
This season, Purdy is completing 68% of his passes for 1,668 yards with 11 touchdowns and three interceptions. He is second in the NFL in yards per passing attempt (8.6) and quarterback rating (107.2), both behind Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa.
The 49ers, who have lost two games in a row, have other injury concerns as wide receiver Deebo Samuel is still out with a shoulder injury and All-Pro tackle Trent Williams is listed as questionable with an ankle injury and hasn't practiced all week.
